The Bushnell: Wilco, April 9, Hartford (The Bushnell Sucks)

Photo

Wilco was awesome in Hartford, at the Bushnell last night.

What almost stole the show though was how awful the Bushnell was. It wasn't the venue, it was the employees.

Up on the second level the sound left something to be desired but the real problem was how the ushers treated the audience.

The concert employees were running around like middle school bullies... kicking people out for taking photos, telling people to sit down.

Sit down! At the Wilco concert! It wasn't the symphony orchestra, or Eric Clapton.

At one point Jeff Tweedy looks at one of the ushers and goes, "Wow, you get the world's worst usher award. Do you wanna be part of the show? I've never had to tell someone that worked at the venue to be quiet."

Props to Jeff Tweedy.

I got a warning for taking a photo. As you can see, from 3-400 feet away from the stage & on my phone camera, it's not threatening anyone's intellectual property, or going to take away anyone's job.

It's about the memory. The usher/bouncer comes up to me and threatens to take away my phone.

No one's going to look at my photo and decide not to buy the CD.

An hour later the guy in front of me is taking a photo with his crappy phone camera and this big bouncer that thinks he's in Road House actually makes him leave. This poor guy is taking a photo, and the bouncer doesn't even give him a warning... he won't go away unless the guy comes with him. It looked like the guy was going to cry.

Shame on the damn Bushnell. They really need to pick and chose the rules worth enforcing. The Bushnell employees were the only ones causing trouble at the show. Next time, I'll go to see Wilco in Boston.

The Bushnell sucks.
